CT DEEP and CFPA Rewards for hiking!!

So who doesn’t like awards and prizes?!!? I do for sure. I am about to start gathering the needed parts to get my bits that say, you’re a super hiker!
Connecticut’s Department of Environmental and Energy Protection (DEEP), Connecticut Forests and Parks Association (CFPA), Madison Land Conservation and Trust, The Sleeping Giant Park Association (SGPA), The Burlington Land Trust, Steep Rock Association, and The Western Connecticut Council of Governments(WCCG) have all started programs to get people on the trails and you can get patches and trinkets to signify their successful challenge completion.

DEEP Sky’s the limit challenge
Medallion for a walking stick
2017 Sky’s the Limit Hiking Challenge February thru December 8, 2017
You have to travel to 10 of the 14 listed parks and take your picture in the designated place. once you have the photos, you send them into DEEP and the will send you a medallion for your walking stick.

CFPA Blue Trails Challenge
Tiered prizes:
200-miler: CFPA t-shirt
400-miler: CFPA water bottle
800-miler: CFPA fleece vest
CFPA would love to see you hit the trails as much as I would and as such they are willing to reward you for walking as much as you can! This challenge requires you to log your hikes on their form and turn that in. Get walking!

Madison Land Conservation and Trust Mystery Trail Challenge
This challenge is a mystery with a mystery prize at the end! You are required to hike the 23 land trust trails and match the photos with the trails and then join them for their Autumn celebration, where, if you’re right, you will be awarded with a prize. Who doesn’t love a good mystery!!

SGPA Giant Masters challenge
Rocker patch and certificate.
For this challenge you have to walk all of the marked trails in the Sleeping Giant State park while a member of the SGPA. That is 32 miles of trails but you get a cool patch and a certificate for something you were going to do anyway. Remember to log your trails.

Burlington Land Trust Burlington Century Club 
Tshirt
This one may be a bit time consuming  as you have to walk 100 miles of trail in the year and log each trail. This is another membership challenge..

Steep Rock Association Hiker’s Challenge
Hat and Lapel pin

This one will cost you a membership but you get the hat right off the bat and the pin when you complete 40 miles of trails. Remember to log your hikes!

WCCG Ives Trail Greenway
Patch
Hike the 20 mile trail and get a patch.. Sounds pretty easy to me. This one will cost you $1 to defray the postage cost. I do love a patch!
